What happens, what we keep, and why

Draft — pending legal review

This document describes how the BidMyMove platform handles information. Its final wording is subject to review and approval by BidMyMove’s legal adviser, and passages marked as such still need to be completed. It is not legal advice.

Closing your account

You can close your BidMyMove account yourself, at any time, from Account Settings. You do not need to ask us and you do not need a reason.

Where to find it

If your account is both a customer and a driver account, closing it closes both.

This cannot be undone

There is no recovery

Once the information below is erased it is gone. We cannot restore it, reopen the account, or tell you later what was in it. If you come back to BidMyMove you will be starting a new account with no history, no ratings and no verification.

Before we do anything, we ask for your password and ask you to type a confirmation phrase. Holding a signed-in session is not enough authority on its own — an unattended laptop has one of those too.

What is erased

  • Your name, email address and phone number
  • Your password
  • Your profile photo
  • Your saved addresses
  • Your bank account details, in full
  • Your identity documents, driving licence and selfie — the records and the stored image files
  • Your identity number, driving licence number and last known location
  • Your notifications

Every signed-in session ends immediately, on every device, and the account cannot be signed into again.

What we keep, and why

  • Completed moves, with your details replaced by an anonymous reference
  • Payments, invoices, payouts and transaction records
  • Disputes and their outcomes
  • Ratings and reviews you left or received, shown without your name
  • Messages and call records on a booking

A completed move is a transaction between two people. The customer’s record of the move they paid for, and the driver’s record of the work they were paid for, do not stop existing because one of them closes their account — and the money involved has to be accounted for.

So those records stay, with you anonymised out of them: your name is replaced, and nothing in them points back to you. The same applies to a conversation on a booking, where the other party keeps their own half of what was said.

The retention period applying to financial and tax records is set by legislation and is to be confirmed by BidMyMove’s legal adviser before publication.

What might stop you

A few things have to be settled first. Account Settings checks all of them and tells you exactly what is outstanding before you confirm anything.

A move in progress

Complete or cancel it first. Closing mid-move would leave the other party with a driver or a customer they can no longer reach.

An open dispute

It has to be resolved first — deleting one side of a dispute removes the evidence the decision rests on.

A payout being processed

Wait until it is paid. Your bank details are erased by this process, and we need them to make the transfer.

Money in your driver wallet

Withdraw it first, so you do not forfeit it by accident.

A payment still settling

Wait for it to clear.

A fleet you own that still has members

Transfer ownership or remove the members, so your drivers are not left in a company nobody can manage.

If you would rather not close it

If you only want part of your information corrected or removed, or you want to object to a particular use of it, you can ask for that instead — see Your Privacy Rights. A driver can also remove their bank account details on their own from Banking settings without closing anything.
